Landmark Builders recently celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chatham Mills Mixed-Use Development Project located off Northwest Boulevard in Winston Salem, NC. Landmark, who serves as General Contractor for the project, was joined by the developers of the historic textile-mill campus, Kenneth Reiter and Jerry Deakle, of Chatham Mill Ventures. Also at the ceremony were Mayor Allen Joines, council members D.D. Adams and Jeff McIntosh, along with numerous other team members and supporters of this redevelopment.
By years end, the project will include 166 one-to three-bedroom apartments on the 250,000 square foot site. Plans for a second phase include 50,000 square feet of commercial retail and office space, which would begin after the apartments are complete. The complex project is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and will hopefully “reconnect the connection of this site to downtown, to West End Historic District and the neighborhoods”, as stated by Developer Ken Reiter.
